How do I contact The Professor if I have questions or need help?
Email us at info@professorkit.com anytime and we will promptly respond to your inquiry. You may also call us at (704) 920-9650. Email is the quickest method to get a response.
What if my software doesn't allow me to input my personal information?
The Professor software was designed with the intent to accomodate all different types of computers and operating systems. There are four different formats of The Professor and The Professor 'pocket packet' on your disk. You should try to open each format and determine which version works best with your computer system. The MS Word and Open Office versions are password protected for your security, so we recommend starting with those versions. If you have Microsoft Word capabilities, the MS Word format should work with no problems. If you use a PC and do not have MS Word, you can download the Open Office program free by going to www.openoffice.org and clicking on the download link. Once you have Open Office installed on your desktop, you should be able to use the Open Office version of The Professor (which is also password protected for your security). For PC and Mac users without MS Word or who don't wish to download Open Office, the WordPerfect version of The Professor should work, but this version is not password protected. Finally, a PDF version of The Professor and the 'pocket packet' are also on your disk, which can be opened and printed out. You can then manually input your information onto the paper copies and file the completed paperwork away in a safe place. If I change my email address, can I still receive the monthly e-newsletter?
Absolutely! Simply email us with your new email address at info@professorkit.com and we will update your new address in our system so you will continue to receive your free monthly e-newsletter.
Some of the sections in The Professor don't apply to me. Should I leave those sections blank?
Yes, for now. We tried to cover every possible detail that would (sooner or later) become important in your life. The Professor was designed to allow you to add, delete and change your personal information as any of those details change in your life. You may need to fill in those blank sections somewhere down the road in your life. When you need to, you can always go back and complete those sections.
I am unsure of how to complete some of the sections in my Professor. How do I know what to put in each section?
Refer to the Instruction Manual you received in your Professor kit. The manual will guide you through what you need to know in order to fill in each section correctly. You can also use the sample Professor packets that were included in your kit to give you an idea of how to fill out each section. If you have questions or are unsure of anything, email us at info@professorkit.com and we will do our best to guide you along.
When I go to update my Professor on the disk, I am unable to save the changes I have made. How do I save my changes?
Once you input or change anything on the Professor disk, you will need to save those changes to your desktop first and then copy the file back over to your disk. Save the file with the same exact name it was given on the disk, but save it to a seperate folder in your computer, or to your desktop. Then with the disk file folder open still, copy the edited version back to your disk. If you are using one of the password protected versions, your password will copy over to the disk as well. Once the file copies over to the CD, remove the disk and then re-insert and re-open that file to make sure the changes have saved properly. Once you verify this, you can delete the copy of the version you saved to your hard drive (folder or desktop). Contact us if you need additional help at info@professorkit.com.
I read something in the monthly newsletter that I am interested in pursuing further. Can you help answer my questions?
The Professor and Whalennovations, LLC does not provide financial, legal, tax, insurance or other professional advice. The information in the monthly e-newsletter is provided as a general service to our customers and is believed to be current and accurate when the newsletter is sent. However, you should contact an appropriate, licensed professional in the area pertaining to your questions for guidance and answers to any questions you have. For example, if you have a question pertaining to the 'TAX INFORMATION' section of the newsletter, you should consult your accountant or other tax professional for advice.
I like the feature that allows me to record and reference my website passwords and user ID's, but coding system is a little confusing to me. Do I have to use the coding system?
The coding system we developed for referencing your website passwords and user ID's is actually designed to be somewhat confusing, for your security. If your website passwords and user IDs were to fall into the wrong hands, your personal information on these websites could be compromised. This is why we highly recommend that you use the coding system, and keep the last section of The Professor (Section P: Website Password/ID links) seperated from the rest of the packet, and in a safe, secure place that cannot be accessed by others. The coding system was designed for your protection. You are able to input whatever you wish in your Professor sections, including whatever system you wish to use to help you organize your website password and user ID combinations, but The Professor is not reponsible for the possible loss of security that could result if you do not use the recommended coding system, and keep your packet safe and secure. We highly recommend that you contact us if you need assistance in coding your passwords and User ID's in our recommended format. We will be more than willing to guide you in the right direction to complete your packet according to the instructions provided. Your security is our highest priority.
